District-Approved Calendar Choice and Specialized Academic Programs
Under Policy 4125.B.3, the fourth order of priority for filling discretionary transfer requests is reserved for students applying for “calendar choice” or “specialized academic programs.” For purposes of this policy, the following programs will be considered under this fourth order of priority:
- International Baccalaureate Program at Cedar Ridge High School
- Year-Round Program at Hillsborough Elementary School*
- Engineered for Excellence Program at Central Elementary School
- Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School
Families may request transfers because of other classes of courses of study offered at other schools, but only the programs listed above will be considered “calendar choice” or “specialized academic programs” for purposes of the order of priorities in the discretionary transfer process.
*Hillsborough Elementary Year-Round Program:. Hillsborough Elementary School does not have a base attendance zone and the first priority for students to be assigned at HES for 2018-2019 will be those students already attending Hillsborough Elementary during the 2017-2018 school year. Incoming Kindergarten siblings of students already attending Hillsborough Elementary School will be accepted into the school prior to other families requesting re-assignment at Hillsborough. Students moving into the Orange County Schools after the school year has started may request admission into Hillsborough Elementary School only if space is available and the student has already been in attendance for the 2018-2019 school year at another year-round program. Students requesting admission to Hillsborough Elementary School must meet all other enrollment and eligibility criteria.
