HILLSBOROUGH, NC 10 MARCH 2017- This week, two Orange County Schools students have been honored for their commitment to service and good citizenship. Cedar Ridge High School senior Ryan Wallace was selected for the US Senate Youth Program, and Orange High School senior Korie Dean has been named the youth recipient of the 2017 Pauli Murray Award from the Human Relations Commission of Orange County Government. Both honors are unique achievements that recognize each student’s commitment to our community and to serving others.
Mr. Wallace has a long-term view for his future, and he hopes to capitalize on the opportunity that attending the US Senate Youth Program provides. “I want to be remembered as one who was successful and made a monumental difference for our world,” said Mr. Wallace. “ I hope to make a difference in various areas of politics and the business world and believe that leaving our world safer and economically strong will be my legacy,” added Mr. Wallace.
Ms. Dean views her community as being instrumental in shaping her development. “I don’t think there are many places that could’ve given me the experience that I’ve had- the diversity and the sense of being together,” said Ms. Dean. “Our community has been so great to me, and I want to continue that tradition by serving to make a positive difference,” concluded Ms. Dean.
