HILLSBOROUGH, NC 28 DECEMBER 2018- The Orange County Schools Board of Education voted to promote Ms. Shannon Braxton as the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director. Currently, Ms. Braxton is a Teacher at Orange High School.
Ms. Braxton has more than 23 years of service in teaching in the family and consumer sciences area. She has been a teacher with Orange County Schools for 15 years. Given her background, Ms. Braxton will be taking on responsibilities with which she is already familiar. “I value hard work and attention to detail because we are working to not only make the lives of our students better but to also make the lives of their families better,” offered Ms. Braxton.
Ms. Braxton earned her Bachelor of Science from Meredith College, and she earned her Master of School Administration from North Carolina State University. Additionally, her state licensure includes the CTE Director certification.
Ms. Braxton’s career has been marked with exemplary leadership and many accolades for her outstanding work. She is the past President of the North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NCAFCS, 2010-2011), and she was named the NCAFCS Teacher of the Year for the state in 2003-2004. Ms. Braxton has been a candidate for Orange County Schools Teacher of the Year twice, and Ms. Braxton was the Richmond County Schools Teacher of the Year for 1998-99.
