HILLSBOROUGH, NC 6 MAY 2019- Orange High School Teacher Kelly Arnold has been named the 2019-2020 Orange County Schools Teacher of the Year. Ms. Arnold has been teaching high school English courses with the school system since 2014. She began her teaching career in Greensboro (NC) in 2002.
Ms. Arnold credits her success as a teacher to believing in and loving her students. “I think teenagers may be the most interesting people on the planet at the most critical juncture in their lives,” mused Ms. Arnold. “Teenagers are rebels, with and without causes, and it is an honor to get to listen to them,” added Ms. Arnold.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts in English Education from the University of North Carolina- Greensboro, she was conferred her Masters of Education in English from the University of North Carolina- Greensboro. Additionally, she attained National Board Certification as an English/Language Arts teacher.
“It is an honor to represent the teachers of Orange County,” offered Ms. Arnold. She is proud of the hard work her colleagues do for students. “While I am beyond delighted at this recognition, I also understand that I am just one of many amazing educators who call this county home, and it is a privilege to work with them,” said Ms. Arnold.
