HILLSBOROUGH, NC 20 JUNE 2016- Two Orange County Schools teachers have been selected to participate in the 2016 Global Teachers program to South Africa. Lisa Langford teaches first grade at Cameron Park Elementary School and Danielle Payton is a French teacher at Cedar Ridge High School. The 10-day learning journey with Go Global NC (formerly the Center for International Understanding) runs June 18-28 and takes teachers to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban.
A total of 26 North Carolina teachers from across the state have been chosen through a competitive application process to participate in the global leadership program designed to help them bring the world to their classrooms. Go Global NC has been providing international education programs for North Carolina teachers since the late 1990s.
“It is my belief and personal philosophy that international connections are integral to being a tolerant and educated human being; with travel comes education, and with education, tolerance,” Payton said, adding, “We could all use a bit more tolerance in this diverse and colorful world.”
