Good evening Grady Brown Families. I have received the totals for our annual Read A Thon. Our students recorded they read 105, 762 minutes. They also earned $4,239. I hope that even though the competition is over, that students will continue to read daily. Parents, ask questions to see if your child understands what they have read. If you need comprehension questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or Ms Cynthia Lewis (Cynthia.Lewis@orange.k12.nc.us).
Also, please remember to sign and return the Title 1 Compact. If you need an additional copy, please let your child's teacher know or contact our front office.
If you signed up for our Parent & Student Reading Workshop at our Back To School Night, please check your child's folder for additional information. If you have a child in Kindergarten or 1st grade and would like to participate in these foundational reading sessions with your child, you will need to contact Ms Natalia Johns (Natalia.Johns@orange.k12.nc.us). Sessions are free and families will be provided with resources to take home.
Early Release is this Wednesday. Students will be dismissed at 11:35. Please inform your child's teacher if they have an alternate plan to get home. Students who were involved in Summer Science Camp are invited to continued sessions during all Early Release Days. These sessions are free. Your child will bring home a letter tomorrow. Please sign and return it for your child to participate this Wednesday.
Thursday at 3:15 will be our 1st All Pro Dads Service Project. Dads, male relatives or friends along with students will be working on painting wood panels. We will be serving pizza to all volunteers. If you would like for your child to be involved and need a male mentor, please contact Ms Lisa Vetrano (Lisa.Vetrano@orange.k12.nc.us). If you have any questions about the program or about the painting, you can contact Mr Doug Holland at (919) 609-5247.
We will have our BoxTop School Store this week. Kindergarten will be Thursday and all other grades will be on Friday. Boxtops can be exchanged for school supplies and small tokens. Please be sure that boxtops are not expired and are placed in a ziploc bag or envelope.
We are looking forward to our Fall Festival this Friday. Students who are involved in the Talent Show will have a run through practice Thursday from 3:00 to 4:00. If you are able to donate cakes for our cake walk, you can drop them off Thursday or Friday morning. We will have PTA members in the car rider lane, so you don't even need to get out of the car. If you would like to assist with with the set up, serving food or running games, please contact our GAB PTA or Penny King (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Thank you for being a member of our Cougar Community. Have a great evening!
