HILLSBOROUGH, NC 30 JULY 2017- Orange County Schools (OCS) has earned recognition from three different organizations for excellence in the arena of financial reporting and management. The Association of School Business Officials and the Government Finance Officers Association awarded the school district certificates of excellence in financial reporting. The State Board of Education awarded OCS with the Recognition of Achievement in financial resource management. The three awards represent the district's diligent efforts to report timely about the district’s finances and use of resources. Additionally, they represent the district's commitment to exceed reporting requirements in the spirit of transparency and disclosure and to enhance the financial credibility of the school system.
“We have a great team in our Finance office that works hard everyday to ensure that our school system operates efficiently, accurately, and timely,” said Chief Finance Officer Rhonda Rath.
Only thirteen school districts in North Carolina received all three of the awards that OCS earned this year. “These recognitions further our system’s public commitment to not just be good stewards of the public’s funds but to be excellent in the work we do to solidify public confidence in the financial systems of the district,” offered Superintendent Dr. Todd Wirt.
