HILLSBOROUGH, NC 13 JUNE 2016- The Orange County Board of Education voted to approve Dr. Chris Gammon as the new principal of Gravelly Hill Middle School. Mr. Gammon comes to Orange County Schools by way of the Mooresville Graded School District (NC). Currently, he is the principal at Mooresville Intermediate School. He will begin the 2016-17 school year as the Principal of Gravelly Hill Middle School.
“I believe in the vision of Orange County Schools, and this is a great place to lay down roots,” said Dr. Gammon. He was drawn to the district for the great opportunities it presents, and Dr. Gammon points out that the opportunities Orange County Schools presents are outstanding. “From a professional and personal point of view, Gravelly Hill is place where we can have great impact and the community is a place where I ‘d like to raise my children,” offered Dr. Gammon.
Prior to becoming the principal at Mooresville Intermediate School, Dr. Gammon was an assistant principal and teacher within the Mooresville Graded School District. Also, he has served as a teacher at Graham High School, his alma mater, in the Alamance-Burlington Schools system. Dr. Gammon earned his Bachelor of Arts at Guilford College (NC). Later, he earned his Master of Arts from Michigan State University and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Wingate University (NC).
“I’m looking forward to building relationships with students and parents and the staff,” said Dr. Gammon. Once he arrives at Gravelly Hill, Dr. Gammon has a clear vision to build on the success already in place at the school. “I want to make Gravelly Hill Middle School the best school it can be, and to do it, we’ll need to do it collectively,” concluded Dr. Gammon.
