Enrichment Activities

Enrichment activities are designed to provide opportunities for character development, personal growth, and team building. These activities are an extension of academics at Partnership Academy.

Character Education

Character education encourages students to embody positive character traits for self and for society.  Each month features a character trait or quality to focus on school-wide. The monthly character trait provides a common theme that will be incorporated into school activities and classroom lessons throughout the month.  There will also be many opportunities for students to show how they display the featured character trait or quality!

College & Career Readiness

College and Career Readiness activities provide opportunities for students to prepare for life beyond school.Partnership Academy's "College and Career Readiness" activities include visits to college campuses, guest speakers, "Dress for Success" Wednesdays, career exploration, and completing college applications, in addition to many other opportunities to prepare for both college life and work.

Visit the College and Career Links page for more resources!

e-Portfolios showcase students' academic accomplishments and enrichment participation.  Creating e-Portfolios provides students with the opportunity to not only showcase their academic accomplishments and to highlight their involvement with enrichment activities, but it also helps students to develop essential 21st century skills in technology. Students learn to create and manage a web site (the foundation for e-Portfolios) as well as develop awareness about creating a positive online profile of themselves.

Students present their e-portfolios throughout the year, including at parent/teacher conferences, at board meetings, and at exit interviews.

e-Portfolios are required of all PA students.

Field Trips

PA field trips are planned to enhance and to enrich the daily curriculum.  Students have the opportunity to participate in a number of field trips throughout the school year. In previous school years, students have visited the Renaissance Festival, Washington, D.C., and a Durham Bulls baseball game in addition to other events.

Permission slips for upcoming field trips are located on the Forms page.

Reading Partners

Reading Partners gives PA students the opportunity to serve in a tutoring role and have fun while doing so.  Our "Reading Partners" program is a curriculum and theme based initiative to help promote literacy skills in the elementary schools. Partnership Academy students work with their PA teachers to plan and to prepare lessons for Reading Partner days. These lessons include both pre- and post-reading activities in addition to the time reading with the elementary-level students.

Since the 2009-10 school year, Partnership Academy students have been serving as Reading Partners for students at New Hope Elementary School. In the 2012-13 school year, we began working additionally with students at Central Elementary School.

The News of Orange County highlights Partnership Academy's Reading Partners's program! "For the Love of Reading"

Seminars are extended periods that feature guest speakers or special presentations.  Seminars have featured speakers from various branches of the military, TobaccoRealityUnfiltered, a Holocaust survivor, the Orange County Sheriff's Department, an outdoor trail guide, and many more who have provided insights to PA students.

Team Building

Team building activities help students to value interdependence.  Team building activities incorporate fun games that are only successful when students work interdependently as a team! Students learn to trust others as well as how to be worthy of others' trust.
