Together Everyone Achieves More… For the Children
Focusing on academic excellence, Pathways Elementary strives for an atmosphere of learning, cooperation, and mutual respect. Our approach to education is through a partnership with parents, students, community members, and staff. Individualized assessment drives instruction so that we can meet the needs of lifelong learning in a highly technical and diverse society.
Stars believe in…
Telling the truth while being sensitive to others,
Always trying our best and never giving up,
Respect, for ourselves, others and for our school, and
Striving to reach our goals.
Integration of Social Studies and Science Instruction:
Science and Social Studies instruction is integrated into the Reading and Mathematics curriculum. This means that students will read many non-fiction text that cover social studies and science content. They will also write about social studies and science in their literacy blocks. Science experiments and hands on activities are used to emphasize hands on learning.Teachers also be able to access "Discovery Education". Discovery Education is an on-line resource that allows teachers to have a host of resources at their fingertips.
Special Recognition Programs:
At Pathways, we belief that every child can be successful. We also believe that achievement is a result of effort and hardwork. Failure is looked at as a First Attempt at Learning. Every nine weeks we will recognize students who have "Grit". What is Grit? Grit stands for getting along with others, respect, integrity, and tenacity. School counselors teach lesson to students about what it takes to have "Grit".
Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance. It is sponsored by our Hillsborough Kiwanis Club. Classroom teachers nominate three students each quarter. At the end of the nine weeks, students who are chosen by their teachers are recognized as Terrific Kids at an awards ceremony with their parents, peers, and teachers. The Terrific Kids program provides teachers with a tool to reward students for special achievements that may otherwise go unnoticed.
