This week the Board of Education approved a recommendation to start the new school year under Plan C - fully remote for nine weeks. All of our students will start the year fully remote and will receive all instruction online for the first nine weeks. This includes students enrolled in the Virtual Academy and those who will eventually return to school for in-person instruction when it is safe to do so.
“In order to take every precaution for our students and staff, I will recommend to the Board of Education that we reopen under Plan C (closed with remote learning) for the first four weeks of school. After that, we will look at the data, and in partnership with the Orange County Department of Health and Human Services and our community, we will reassess our plans,” said Dr. Monique Felder, OCS Superintendent.
Due to growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in North Carolina, the Orange County Schools’ (OCS) Athletics Committee, consisting of principals, athletic directors, athletic trainers, and district leaders, have made the difficult decision to postpone the start of voluntary athletic summer workouts.
