OCS Families "Know Before You Go" Back To School, March-April 2023
In an effort to keep our students safe and healthy, Orange County Schools has received from the NC Department of Health and Human Services free Covid-19 At-Home Testing Kits to send home with every student this week (based on parent preference) to help families “Know Before You Go” back to school following spring break or intersession. Staff will also receive free At-Home Testing Kits.

Family Expo and Global Showcase, April 15, 2023
The Family Engagement Team, in collaboration with New Hope Elementary School and other Orange County Public schools, are honored to invite you to the “Family Resource Fair, Summer Camp Expo, and Global Showcase” event! Join us on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at New Hope Elementary School, located at 1900 New Hope Church Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27514!

Severe Weather Readiness – Statewide Tornado Drill, March 8, 2023
Orange County Schools would like to inform all parents and guardians that all schools will be participating in the statewide tornado drill on Wednesday morning, March 8, 2023. This is an annual drill to ensure our schools are prepared for any storms or severe weather that may occur while school is in session. This is also our statewide Severe Weather Week. Please take a few minutes to discuss with your child the importance of having a severe weather plan for your family, in case of a dangerous thunderstorm, tornado, or other severe weather while your child is at home.

In honor of School Social Work Week on March 5-11, 2023, Superintendent Dr. Monique Felder invited school social workers and Dr. Jessica Dreher, Director of Student Engagement and Support, to join the Board of Education for recognition at the March 6 business meeting.
