• School Improvement Plans

The ALS School Improvement Team meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 4pm in the ALS Media Center.

Welcome to our School Improvement Plan overview!  We took steps in constructing our school improvement plan with a focus on supporting our students and how we as a community can encourage students to model our exemplars of Hand Up, Stand Up and Excellence Always.  We did this by taking very specific steps:

    • Started with a vision
    • How did we envision the ideal student centered school setting?  This would be accomplished by focusing on the “whole student”.  Not only focusing on academics but also the socio-emotional needs of our middle grade students.
    • Conducted a needs assessment
    • We conducted a needs assessment, parent surveys and used feedback from various stakeholders in order to ensure that every voice was heard and valued in our process.
    • Identified goals and objectives
    • Next we wanted to ensure that the results of our actions would be measurable and had goals in order to determine our level of success in implementing our SIP.  As a district Orange County Schools will be using the NCStar system to measure our progress throughout the academic year to guide our processes.
    • Outlined specific action steps
    • Each step of our SIP has specific actions that are taken by various staff members and partners to support the implementation of our SIP throughout the year.  These are documented in our NCStar portfolio and monitored throughout the year to stay focused on our goals.
    • Continue to engage and involve all stakeholders
    • As a school community we value and appreciate the input of all our stakeholders and community partners.  Please look over our plan and if you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact us here at A.L. Stanback Middle School.

We thank you for your continued support of our students and staff here at A.L. Stanback.  If you would like to contact us for more details, please feel free to call us at 919-644-3200 and ask for one of our administrators to assist you with your inquires.
