Interested in Partnering with Orange County Schools?
We need each other!
Work-based learning is a federally supported program in Career and Technical Education (CTE) that connects workplaces to the classroom to prepare students for real-world careers. Students have the opportunity to earn a high school credit in work-based learning and most importantly a real world experience to apply skills and talents that they learned while in high school. Work-based learning opportunities included internships, pre-apprenticeships, and apprenticeships.
Orange County Schools CTE currently partners with 50+ local businesses/industries to provide work-based learning opportunities to students at Cedar Ridge High School, Orange High School, and Partnership Academy. For more information about work-based learning opportunities contact Nick Montgomery, OHS Career Development Coordinator, or Stephanie Smith, CRHS Career Development Coordinator.

Q: Can I choose my student intern? A: Yes, you should interview students to find the best match and even specify course(s) or certifications required for the internship with your business. Many CTE courses offer certifications to students such as OSHA, Intuit QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Specialist, First Aid, Stop the Bleed, etc.! |
Q: What days and times are student interns available to work with our business? A: Days/times vary based on the student's schedule and hours for the business. We can work with you and the intern to find the best schedule that works. Know that you can even have multiple interns and if an intern isn't working out, then your business can relieve them of their duties. |
Q: Is our business required to pay student interns? A: No, businesses are not required to pay student interns but we encourage pay if it is feasible for businesses to do so. Also know that your business can hire a student intern to stay on as an employee after the student internship ends. Insurance is offered through the school system. |
