Student Teachers and Interns

Thank you for considering Orange County Schools (OCS) as the home for your student teaching, internship, or pre-service experience. As a small district, we take pride in providing the time, attention, and support emerging educators need to grow and thrive. Each year, we welcome students from universities across North Carolina and the nation, offering meaningful experiences that prepare them for successful careers in education. 

If you’re interested in completing your internship with Orange County Schools (OCS), we encourage you to begin by coordinating with the field placement liaison at your university. Once you’ve started that process, simply submit an online application through our district website. The application can be found under the “Apply Now” section of the OCS Human Resource website.

Affiliation Agreements

Orange County Schools is a proud member of the Triangle Alliance, a consortium of 10 institutions that includes Duke University, North Carolina Central University, NC State University, Elon University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Greensboro. Through this partnership, the district maintains standing affiliation agreements with each institution. Universities outside the Triangle Alliance must enter into the district’s standard affiliation agreement. This agreement must be fully executed before any requests for full-time internship or student teaching placements can be considered. All agreements are subject to review and approval by the Chief Human Resource Officer.
