Recognitions
Start of School for Hillsborough Elementary School
Jessica Nagy, Principal of Hillsborough Elementary School, reflected on the return to school on July 15, 2026.
Back to School Fair
Orange County Schools successfully hosted its Second Annual Back to School Fair and Family Resource Expo on August 8, 2026, at Orange High School, bringing together students, families, school leaders, community organizations, healthcare providers, and local businesses to celebrate the start of the 2026–2027 school year.
OCS Finance Earns Certificate of Excellence for FY 2025 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
Under the leadership of Chief Finance Officer Rhonda Rath, the OCS Finance team has earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) for their OCS FY2025
Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, awarded annually by ASBO International (Association of School Business Officials).
Superintendent Comments
- Dr Danielle Jones opened her comments with a message about the 2026-2027 school year and Hillsborough Elementary’s start of school: “I am excited to fully open the 2026-2027 SY. In July, Hillsborough Elementary School set the tone for the rest of the district as they had a successful opening. It was great seeing our students and staff return with such enthusiasm about learning.”
- She then commented on the Back to School Fair: “Early this month we engaged with our community at our 2nd annual Back to School Fair. It was a huge success. Not only did our families have an opportunity to meet leaders and staff at their schools and learn about our services and programming, but we gave away free backpacks full of school supplies, students were able to get sports physicals, and families connected with community organizations.”
- She followed up with the Stars of Education Conference: “Today, we brought our entire district family together for our annual OCS Stars of Education conference. It was an extraordinary day filled with high-quality professional development, inspiring collaboration, and valuable connection across departments and schools. Spending time with our dedicated educators always reinforces how deeply committed this team is to excellence and continuous growth."
- And lastly, she discussed the new strategic plan, Engage Orange: “As I shared with staff during today's conference, I am confident in the direction Engage Orange will take us as we sharpen our focus on innovation and student success, ensuring we continue to fulfill our core mission: ensuring our students receive a high quality education in a safe and inclusive environment as we inspire them to reach their maximum potential.”

Bond and Capital Planning Update
Melanie Gartell, Director of Construction and Capital Planning provided the Board with an update on the status of the 2024 Bond Referendum Projects and the 2026 CIP Summer Projects.

Strategic Plan 2021-2026 Final Performance Report (Priorities 2,3,4)
Members of the Superintendent’s Cabinet provided a final report to the Board of the 2021-2026 Strategic Plan performance metrics and how the work will continue through the new 2026-2031 Strategic Plan, Engage Orange.

FY27 Final Budget Approval (Budget Resolution)
Chief Finance Officer Rhonda Rath presented the final budget for fiscal year 2027. The Board approved the budget.
