OCS Family Updates - April 13, 2025
Thank you to nearly 500 students, families, staff, and community members who completed our second survey about major project options to be funded by the 2024 school bond. Please see these updates for our schools:
Family Resources
OCS has updated the links on our “Parents & Students” page to include resources for family support found at orangecountync.gov, the Orange County website. Explore family health resources, as well as parks and recreation information and volunteer opportunities in our community. Visit the new page today!
Math Curriculum Review
Please remember that everyone is welcome to review resources for math curriculum and share feedback about the potential use of each option in Orange County Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. Visit the Welcome Center from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on April 14 and 15 to explore resources and let us know what you think! Spanish interpretation is available. Full details here.
OCS Night of Poetry, Thursday, April 17
Join us for the Third Annual OCS Night of Poetry at Cedar Ridge High School on Thursday, April 17, starting at 6:00 p.m. Students from all three OCS high schools began their spring program with a two-day poetry intensive led by the North Carolina Poet Laureate, Orange County's own Jaki Shelton Green.
At the April 17 student poetry showcase, local authors — including Ms. Shelton Green — will address the gathering and read from their own works. Students will then present poems they have created and submitted for judging. A new youth poet laureate will be named for each school, and one winner will be crowned as this year's OCS Youth Poet Laureate.
We hope you will join us for the event in the J wing at Cedar Ridge High School on April 17!
Thank you as always for sharing and have a great night,
Orange County Schools
