Schools Closed Monday, February 2, 2026 - Inclement Weather

Orange County Schools will be CLOSED for students and staff on Monday, February 2, 2026. With hazardous road conditions in our area and extreme cold temperatures through Monday, all OCS schools and facilities will be closed.

All athletic and after-school activities are also canceled. There is no remote instruction for students on Monday, February 2. OCS Transportation and Operations teams will continue to check area roads and prepare all our campuses in order to help our schools open when ready, with safety as our highest priority. 

February Celebrations

Each February, OCS observes a number of celebrations including Black History Month, Career and Technical Education Month, and Love the Bus Month! Please watch OCS social media for updates on these celebrations, and note the upcoming events below on your calendar.

Attendance Week February 2-6, 2026

Finally, help us kick off OCS Attendance Week starting Monday morning… All students, staff, families, and community members can participate! Day 1 is “Wear Your Colors Day,” with everyone putting on their school or district colors (blue and orange). Watch our website orangecountyfirst.com and OCS social media for a video announcement every morning!

Mark Your Calendars

• Tuesday, February 3: Neighborhood Listening Session, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Efland-Cheeks Community Center (117 Richmond Rd, Mebane, NC 27302)
• Thursday, February 5: Ready, Set, Kindergarten! Drop-in family welcome event from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at OC Sportsplex (101 Meadowlands Rd., Hillsborough)
• Wednesday, February 11: Black History Month Celebration, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Orange High School (500 Orange High School Rd.)
