ACT Scores Being Reissued for Spring 2026 Online Test-Takers

The ACT is a college readiness test that North Carolina schools use as part of the high school accountability model. This test is offered during the school day for free to juniors at public high schools.

Today (May 13, 2026), we learned that ACT (formerly American College Testing) will reissue all scores for students who took the online test during school-day testing in the spring of 2026. Students and families may also receive messages from the test-maker about scores.

While we are still gathering information, here is what we know:

  • Some students’ ACT scores may have been affected by when and how they took the test.
  • Scores for students who took the ACT online during school-day testing in spring 2026 will be removed and reposted.
  • Each student’s ACT composite and section scores will remain the same or go up slightly based on their individual performance.
  • No student’s ACT score will be lower than what was previously released.

ACT plans to hold at least one more meeting with the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) to provide more information. The test-maker will also communicate with Orange County Schools when all students’ revised scores have been posted.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership with Orange County Schools.
