CRHS Woodworking students head to Las Vegas for AWFS Fresh Wood Competition

Next week, woodworking students Tyson Oswald and Josh Scism will enjoy a unique opportunity to showcase their work among the very best, representing Cedar Ridge High School as two of only 20 high schoolers in the US and Canada invited to compete at the 2025 Fresh Wood Competition!

Woodworking teacher Avery Pipkin said:

“Fresh Wood is known as ‘the place where the woodworking business does business,’ and I am so excited that my students have this opportunity to compete at the highest level while learning from leaders in the field. It’s been one of my main goals, and I’m proud of everything they have accomplished.”

They will be in Las Vegas from July 22-25 for the biannual competition, where students “earn awards and recognition that can significantly boost your career in woodworking and design.” They will meet industry leaders who interview contestants and judge all submitted works, while also sharing the latest in woodworking tools and techniques. https://www.awfsfair.org/fresh-wood/

Stay tuned, as we look forward to reporting on their progress next week!
