Gallery Walks: April 7, 9 & 10

Come and see!

Meet OCS district staff and design consultants in person to review and ask questions about options for building the new K-5 elementary school.

Three gallery walk sessions, open to the public, will be held at the Board of Education (200 E. King Street):

  • Tuesday, April 7, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 9, 2:00* to 4:00 p.m.
  • Friday, April 10, 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

(*Note: Thursday, April 9, has been corrected to start at 2:00 p.m., not at 12:00 p.m. as originally posted)

“Draw Your Dream School” Event: April 15

The name says it all—learn about great school design and help OCS imagine features we haven’t dreamed of yet!

Various individuals of all ages are seen participating in public discussions to review school construction project options. There are guided discussions, prioritization exercises, and further open conversations.

Anyone is welcome to participate in this public input session. Join the team of designers and district staff for an engaging and interactive evening on Wednesday, April 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Gravelly Hill Middle School Media Center. See how great schools are built, and help our next K-5 elementary school take shape!

Student Design Challenge

The challenge is on! Student voice is essential to making our new elementary school the best it can be.

Student teams in all 13 OCS schools are participating in the “OCS Design Challenge” from March through May 2026. As they use the Design Thinking process, just like engineers — from idea to testing to continuous improvement — their teamwork will help us learn what future students may want in their new elementary school. We are so excited to see the results of their work!

We hope to see you at our upcoming events and look forward to your survey responses as Orange County Schools and our Board of Education get into the design of a new K-5 elementary school set to open in 2029!
