Interim Principal Named for Cedar Ridge High School

Welcome Dr. Teresa Johnson Daye to Cedar Ridge High School!

During their special called meeting on March 24, the Orange County Board of Education approved the recommendation by Superintendent Dr. Danielle Jones to appoint Dr. Daye as Interim Principal for Cedar Ridge High School starting April 1, 2026.

Dr. Jones said, “We are excited to welcome Dr. Teresa Daye for this interim role. She will bring steady leadership during our search for the Red Wolves’ next principal. I look forward to the continued success of our students and staff at Cedar Ridge High School during this transition and beyond.”

Dr. Daye brings over 30 years of public school experience at the state and local level as a teacher and administrator in Guilford and Durham Counties, including four years as Executive Director/Officer for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in Durham Public Schools.

In a career spanning school leadership and the private sector, Dr. Daye said, “I have been committed to supporting strong instructional practices, fostering positive school cultures, and ensuring that every student has access to high-quality educational opportunities.”

Dr. Daye earned degrees from Winston-Salem State University (bachelor’s in education), North Carolina Central University (master’s in middle grades education), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (master’s in school administration and doctorate in educational leadership). She holds NC teacher, principal (K-12), and superintendent licenses.

Dr. Daye has consulted for the NC Department of Public Instruction and taught or facilitated programs at North Carolina Central University, Duke University, and Johns Hopkins University. 

Following her appointment, Dr. Daye added,

“I welcome this assignment with both enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I am eager to get started and fully committed to supporting the school community during this time.”
