Middle School Students Score High Marks in Battle of the Books Competition
On Tuesday, March 4, students from A.L. Stanback, Gravelly Hill, and Orange Middle Schools competed in the district level Battle of the Books competition.
This annual competition brings together students in Battle of the Books clubs, who read 20 different titles chosen by the NC School Library Association, then answered trivia questions to test their recall and comprehension among the whole team.
Each OCS team, coached by a school librarian, earned high scores across several categories of questions. The final tally showed A.L. Stanback in third place with 84 points, Gravelly Hill in second with 93 points, and Orange Middle School on top this year with 119 points.
When they took on the competition in Region 3 on March 22, Orange Middle School (OMS) placed first again, the second year in a row OMS won the regional title!
The Orange Middle School Chargers are competing today (Thu, May 1) at the state level competition, battling it out with middle schools from across North Carolina! Join us in cheering on our students as they put their skills to the test!
Stay tuned for more updates.
