New Hope Elementary Recognized for Closing Achievement Gaps

The New Hope Elementary School vision is to:

“create and sustain a diverse, nurturing, and inclusive community of excellence where every child receives equitable access to rigorous and culturally responsive instruction, experiences academic growth and achievement, and develops intellectual persistence in an environment of holistic care and support.”

As a result of that work, NHE entered into consideration for a National ESEA Distinguished Schools Award (Title I) in Category 2: Schools That Have Closed the Achievement Gap Between Student Groups.

The NC DPI Office of Federal Programs recognized the top 10 schools in North Carolina in two different categories on Wednesday, October 23 at an annual luncheon for federal program administrators.

Two top schools in each category will go on to represent NC at a national ESEA conference in February. NHE was honored as a top 10 finalist and will proudly display a banner at the school in honor of this recognition.

Superintendent Dr. Danielle Jones said: “We are proud of the leadership and staff at New Hope Elementary for helping students achieve academic success. When we ensure all students have access to quality education and support, growth and achievement will follow.

“I applaud the continued efforts of our schools to help every student achieve academic excellence and look forward to continued success as we continue to strive for excellence in all we do to support students on a daily basis.”

Principal Dr. Meredith Maier said that diligently putting student needs first leads to an environment of academic excellence that serves all students at New Hope:

“We are thrilled that our students have been able to make demonstrative gains and growth, year after year. We are ready to continue this work with increased efficacy for years to come, always in pursuit of the idea that radical positive change is not only possible, but attainable for all of our students.”

Congratulations to all the Voyagers at New Hope Elementary!
