OCS Family Updates - July 2024 - Transportation Request

Dear Orange County Schools Families,
OCS Transportation is now assigning bus routes for the 2024-2025 school year on the traditional calendar.
- The first student day for schools on the traditional calendar is Monday, August 26, 2024.
- The last day to apply for bus transportation on the first day of school for the traditional calendar is Friday, August 9, 2024.
To ensure that your child(ren) will have a bus assignment when school starts, please read the following carefully:

Did you move, or did your student move, to a new address this summer? IF YES:

Contact your child’s school to request a new bus route.

- Did your student move up to middle school (6th grade this year) or high school (9th grade this year)? IF YES:
- Contact your child’s new school to request a bus route.
- Contact your child’s new school to request a bus route.

If your student (1) did not move, and if your student (2) will not move up to middle or high school this year, did your student ride the bus during the last two weeks of the 2023-2024 school year? IF YES:

You do not need to call or contact your school, or OCS Transportation.

You do not need to do anything at this time.

Your student will be seated on a bus route.

For all requests after August 9, students will be assigned to a bus route two weeks after school starts, or starting September 9, 2024.
If you have questions about bus transportation, you can contact the front office at your child’s school or call OCS Transportation at (919) 732-2531, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The information here will educate voters about the bond — so you can vote with confidence.

Tonight, September 23, Cedar Ridge High School sophomore Calla Lundberg will be recognized at the Board of Education Meeting for being nominated as one of 24 members of the NCHSAA Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
Ten out of 13 schools in Orange County Schools earned a school performance grade of C or higher for the 2023-2024 school year, and 12 out of 13 schools met or exceeded growth targets, well above the state averages for both achievement and growth.
As first announced for Graduation 2024, for the safety of all our students, staff, volunteers, and guests, Orange County Schools will follow a Clear Bag Policy for all athletic and public events starting with the 2024-2025 school year. All guests will be permitted to carry ONLY CLEAR BAGS into the stadium or venue. Bags must be no longer than 12 inches and made of clear plastic. Bags which do not comply will NOT be allowed under any circumstances.
