OCS Finance Earns Award for Transparency in Reporting

Congratulations are in order!

Under the leadership of Chief Finance Officer Rhonda Rath, the OCS Finance team has earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) for their OCS FY2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, awarded annually by ASBO International (Association of School Business Officials).

Not all districts who apply earn this award. Some receive a conditional award, and others are denied. Districts that earn the COE go above and beyond in implementing best practices recommended by ASBO, as follows:

  1. Prepare annual financial statements following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP),
  2. Issue an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), and
  3. Submit their ACFR for evaluation in the COE program.

The award letter for the OCS Fiscal Year 2024 Comprehensive Financial Report stated:

“Your continued participation in the COE program is a testament to your district’s commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting.”

Applications for the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting are reviewed by school finance professionals who are subject matter experts in their respective fields, and reviewers are not allowed to evaluate districts in their own state.

Please help us recognize the OCS Finance team for this award earned in service to Orange County Schools and our whole community!
