October 13, 2025 is Indigenous Peoples' Day
Orange County Schools is proud to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, observed annually on the second Monday of October, recognizing the histories, traditions and contributions of Native peoples.
We take this day to honor the Native lands on which OCS was founded, as this land was previously settled by ancestors of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation (OCS Board Resolution, 2021).

The Orange County Schools Board of Education will recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day at their regular business meeting on Monday, October 20.
