Welcome Orange County Schools Class of 2038!
Starting kindergarten is a moment to celebrate in every child’s life! Orange County Schools is proud to support families with a new, exciting kindergarten event for the 2025-2026 school year.
Children and parents in the Class of 2038 are invited to “Ready, Set, Kindergarten!” to learn all about kindergarten—from readiness to registration and more. The free event will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Orange County Sportsplex fieldhouse gymnasium. Look below for more details and to pre-register for the event!

Event Details:
Any child who will turn five (5) years old by August 31, 2025 is eligible to start kindergarten next school year. Families with four- and five-year olds can drop in to experience what OCS has to offer–meet school representatives, learn about supportive resources, and get a free book!
Find answers to all your questions about navigating a new school in 2025, including school nutrition, transportation, academics, exceptional children’s and student support services, and more. Most importantly, learn how the district will partner with you to support your child throughout the spring, summer, and their whole kindergarten year.
These schools will be welcoming families during the drop-in event: Central Elementary, Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary, Grady A. Brown Elementary, Hillsborough Elementary, New Hope Elementary, Pathways Elementary, and River Park Elementary Schools.
Enrollment opens on January 6, 2025 for any child to start attending Orange County Schools (all grades, K-12) during the 2025-2026 school year. Full details are available here at orangecountyfirst.com/enrollment.
If your child will transfer into Orange County Schools in any grade before June 7, 2025, get more information and enroll at the link above or contact your child’s school.
Note: Starting January 6, 2025, applications also open for the enrollment lottery at year-round Hillsborough Elementary. Deadline to apply via the district website: February 14, 2025. Learn more about kindergarten and all grades at HES at hes.orangecountyfirst.com.
