Summer Meals for All Community Children

Orange County Schools announces free summer meals for children available through OCS School Nutrition Services. Boxes with five days of meals are available from three locations, and individual child’s meals are available at convenient open sites across the community.

Five-Day Meal Boxes: 

Families in our community can register now to pick up five-day meal boxes for children ages 4-18 this summer using a new, convenient form. Register online at http://bit.ly/summermealboxes.

OCS School Nutrition Services can provide five breakfasts and five lunches each week for children ages 4 to 18 from June 16 through July 30. Meals will be distributed on the schedule below except for June 19 and the week of July 4. Food is available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Walk-up registration is also available at each pick-up location.) 

• New Hope Elementary School
  • Mondays, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; 1900 New Hope Church Road, Chapel Hill, NC
• Pathways Elementary School
  • Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; 431 Strouds Creek Road, Hillsborough, NC
• Gravelly Hill Middle School
  • Wednesdays, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.; 4801 West Ten Road, Efland, NC

Families are asked to read details carefully and fill out the form accurately, making note of the selected pick-up site. Provided information will be verified for accountability purposes. Note that each location has a specific pick-up day.

After completing the form, Orange County Schools will contact families to confirm details. Meals will be either frozen, or pre-cooked, or shelf-stable. Preparation instructions will be included. To assist OCS School Nutrition Services, families are asked to please register in advance, so that everyone can receive meals every week during the summer.

Summer 2025 Children’s Meals: 

​Children in the community age 18 and under may walk in to receive free meals this summer! Starting June 9, 2025, OCS School Nutrition Services and other local organizations will provide free meals to children 18 and under at the following open meals sites:

  • June 9 to July 7; Lunch: 12:00-1:00 p.m.

  • June 12 to July 4; Breakfast: 8:00-8:30 a.m. and Lunch: 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
  • 402 N Nash St, Hillsborough, NC
• Orange High School
  • June 12 to July 31; Lunch: 12:30-1:00 p.m. 
  • 500 Orange High School Rd, Hillsborough, NC 
• Efland Cheeks Community Center
  • June 16 to July 25; Lunch: 12:00 p.m.
  • 117 Richmond Rd, Mebane, NC
• Cedar Ridge High School
  • June 12 to July 31; Lunch: 12:30-1:00 p.m. 
  • 1125 New Grady Brown Rd, Hillsborough, NC
• River Park Elementary School
  • July 14 to August 1; Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. and Lunch: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Please note: Meals must be eaten on-site. There will be no service on June 19 or July 4 in observance of the Juneteenth and Independence Day Holidays.
