    We have important calendar announcements to share and hope to see you at upcoming district events! Black History Month Student Expo Thursday, February 22. Town Halls with Superintendent Dr. Danielle Jones begin Monday, February 26 in three locations around Orange County. Save the Date for the next OCS Job Fair on April 13 from 9am-12pm at Cedar Ridge High School. And keep telling your friends about the Alternative Licensure events, now monthly, so we can help you fulfill our dream of becoming a teacher!

  •  CADCA Conference with four OCS High School Students

    Orange and Cedar Ridge High School students attend the CADCA Youth Conference

    Prepare yourself for an organization with a very long name, one that reaches almost as far as its impact. The Community-Based Advocacy-Focused Data-Driven Coalition-Building Association (CADCA) broke records this January at their Youth Leadership Forum in National Harbor, Maryland, bringing in 4300 attendees, four of whom are OCS high school students.

    With great joy, I am honored to greet you as Superintendent in Orange County Schools and thank you for entrusting the education of your children to us. What do you appreciate about Orange County Schools? What positive changes would you like to see? What initiatives will help students become successful in school, in their career, and in life?     “Students, you are at the heart of our mission. Your potential is limitless, and I am committed to providing you with an enriching and inclusive educational experience that prepares you for the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead.” With these words, Dr. Danielle Jones greeted the community as the newly-elected Superintendent of Orange County Schools, after taking the oath of office surrounded by family, friends, and a crowd of supporters on Monday, January 8, 2024. Dr. Jones’s tenure will officially commence on February 1, 2024.

    Orange County Board of Education Hires New Superintendent, Dr. Danielle Jones

    Orange County Schools is thrilled to announce the selection and election of Dr. Danielle Jones, a distinguished education leader and US Air Force veteran, as its next superintendent. Dr. Jones’s tenure will officially commence on February 1, 2024. After a meticulous review process that included applications from a diverse pool of twenty-six highly qualified candidates from nine different states and territories, the Board of Education enthusiastically chose Dr. Jones based on her extensive track record of success, her exemplary leadership, and her unwavering dedication to students and staff.

  • School Safety Message for Middle and High Schools, November 29, 2023

    The safety and wellbeing of our schools, our students, and our staff, are the highest priority in Orange County Schools. Nothing is more important than making each and every school a safe and inclusive environment, and a healthy place to teach and learn. The Board of Education provides resources to help keep our schools safe. One proactive step is the use of trained police dogs (K9 units) at middle and high schools in our district, in accordance with board policy (4342) and regulations (4342-R). Please learn more here.

    Orange High School Volleyball takes on the 2023 NCHSAA Championship with new coach Hope Heverly

    For most high school students, their school gym is probably the last place they imagined themselves on Halloween.  But, on Tuesday, Oct. 31 Orange High School (OHS) students were doing just that as they and many other fans filled the stands to watch their Panthers go head to head with the Carrboro High School (OHS) Jaguars for their chances at becoming the 2023 NCHSAA Volleyball Championship 3A title holders.
