  • OCS Board Extends Remote Learning to the First Nine Weeks

    This week the Board of Education approved a recommendation to start the new school year under Plan C - fully remote for nine weeks. All of our students will start the year fully remote and will receive all instruction online for the first nine weeks. This includes students enrolled in the Virtual Academy and those who will eventually return to school for in-person instruction when it is safe to do so.

  • Superintendent Recommends Starting Remotely & Virtual Academy Info Sessions

    “In order to take every precaution for our students and staff, I will recommend to the Board of Education that we reopen under Plan C (closed with remote learning) for the first four weeks of school. After that, we will look at the data, and in partnership with the Orange County Department of Health and Human Services and our community, we will reassess our plans,” said Dr. Monique Felder, OCS Superintendent.

  • OCS Athletics Postponed - COVID-19 July 3, 2020

    Due to growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in North Carolina, the Orange County Schools’ (OCS) Athletics Committee, consisting of principals, athletic directors, athletic trainers, and district leaders, have made the difficult decision to postpone the start of voluntary athletic summer workouts.

  • Summer Learning Opportunities

    The district’s Remote Learning website contains numerous opportunities to keep students learning all summer. Students can access content at any grade level or content that is of interest to them.   • COVID-19 testing event this FRIDAY in Northern Orange County

    The Orange County Health Department is working with UNC to host a mass mobile testing event. Pre-Registration strongly encouraged. State’s latest guidance about testing applies which means symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals will be tested. We will test from 1-6pm or until supplies run out. At this time we have capacity to test ~200 individuals.

    Para mí, Memorial Day (Día de la Recordación) siempre ha señalado el comienzo del verano... un momento para trabajar, porque la educación nunca se detiene, pero también un momento para disfrutar de la temporada de reuniones en el patio trasero, la jardinería y el sol. Este año, significa que nos estamos enfocando activamente en el final del año escolar y en encontrar maneras creativas de celebrar el trabajo duro de nuestros estudiantes, especialmente el de nuestros graduados.

  • Turn Orange County Blue

    As we prepare for these final few weeks, I'd like to share one of the ways we plan to celebrate our seniors. We will “Turn Hillsborough Blue” for our seniors! We’re planning to use blue light bulbs to celebrate our seniors’ hard work and accomplishments. During each of our graduation ceremonies on June 11, 12, and 13, we’re asking families, staff, and community members to turn on blue bulbs to shine a light on our seniors’ accomplishments.
