Information for Rising 6th Graders

Dear Rising 6th Grade Families,

We hope that you are all doing well! The Middle School Counselors of Orange County wanted to send you our greetings and let you all know that we are so excited to meet you face to face - whenever that may be! Helping our students and families transition to middle school is something that we get very excited about. We know that you may have questions and we are hoping to be able to answer all of these throughout registration time. Here are some dates and things to be aware of:

Middle School Tours - Each school will work with their administration to have a 6th grade specific open house time in August.

4/17/2020 - Elective course guides will be available both online and at pick-up locations. These course guides will give descriptions of electives offered to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Please read over these and talk with your children about which courses they would be interested in taking. DO NOT get bogged down with details of semester classes, 9 week classes, or year long and what order. We will go over that part later.

4/20/2020 - Visit us online! Each middle school will have a powerpoint or video available that will detail information about 6th grade. Can’t get online? Don’t worry, paper copies of the power points will be provided at pick up locations! This is where you will find all the nitty gritty information about how to select elective courses.

-There will be a link for a google form for students to select courses that will remain open until 5/1/2020.

-Paper copies of forms will be provided at pick up locations that will be due back by 5/1/2020.

-There will be a contact person identified in the information provided on 4/20/2020. Please contact that Counselor with any questions you may have about 6th grade elective registration.

Lastly, thank you so much for being patient with us during this time as we find new ways to help everyone transition to middle school.
