OCS Welcomes Interim Chief Human Resources Officer, Arasi Adkins

Arasi Adkins Interim Chief Human Resources Officer Orange County SchoolsEffective Friday, May 17, 2024, Superintendent Dr. Danielle Jones has appointed Ms. Arasi Adkins as interim Chief Human Resources Officer for Orange County Schools.

Dr. Jones said, “With a timely and critical need to recruit and retain the best possible talent to serve our students, I am excited to welcome Ms. Adkins to this interim role in our district leadership. We will rely on her rich experience and deep insights to help us succeed right now and in the coming school year.”

Ms. Adkins has over two decades of experience in human resources (HR) management at the K-12 and university levels. Prior to working as an independent HR consultant with both School Operations Specialists and Summit Search Solutions, she served as Assistant Superintendent of HR at Durham Public Schools, Assistant Vice Chancellor for HR at North Carolina A&T State University, and head of HR in both Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and the Alamance-Burlington School System. 

In describing her purpose in the human resources field, Adkins stated, “My passion is in identifying exceptional and diverse candidates and helping to match them with the right position at the right time in their career.”

Adkins graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Master of Arts in Teaching. She will serve as interim in her role while the search for a new district Chief Human Resources Officer takes place.
