Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program

Orange County School Families,

North Carolina has been approved for the new Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program. This program will provide extra help buying groceries for the families of the more than 800,000 children who normally receive free and reduced lunch at school in the state.

This benefit is for families currently receiving free/reduced lunch and for families who are eligible, but have not applied for free/reduced lunch.

Newly unemployed parents, including undocumented parents, are also eligible.

Any family enrolled in free/reduced lunch will automatically receive a Pandemic Card of approximately $350+ per month, per child for groceries.  For families already receiving a benefit, the funds will be deposited into their account.  Parents can expect the funds to be available mid-May.

Families that are not currently enrolled, but plan to complete the online free/reduced lunch form can expect the funds to be available late May or early June once approved.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact your school-based social worker.

Thank you.
