As elementary school teams prepare for the return of our students under Plan A, it was decided to provide teachers an additional work day.
April 5th was previously scheduled as a workday and teachers have the option to take this day off, especially for those who may observe the Easter Monday holiday. The additional workday on the 6th will allow the elementary school teams to make sure their classrooms and schools are ready to support increased student attendance with as much physical distancing as possible.
The additional workday on April 6th is for the elementary tier only!
In addition to this additional workday, it was requested to keep the Asynchronous Fridays. Part of the rationale includes Plan A poses additional changes for teachers. Teachers need time to adjust their classes, including their hybrid classes where they are simultaneously teaching both students in person and those who are remote. Teachers also need time to adjust their curriculum and lesson plans. Professional development is also scheduled for Fridays in preparation for next school year.
Note: April 5th is an optional paid work day for Teacher Assistants.
We realize this past year has been challenging for our students and their families, our staff and the community. It has been very difficult for us as well. We appreciate everyone's understanding, flexibility and partnership as we continue to navigate the implications of this evolving pandemic in the best interest of our children."
