Dr. Meredith Maier

Dr. Meredith Maier

OCS would like to welcome Dr. Meredith Maier as the next Principal of New Hope Elementary School.

Effective July 1, Dr. Maier will officially take the helm at New Hope. Prior to her start date, she will work with Mrs. Ambra Wilson and the assistant principal and other staff to ensure a smooth transition. (July 1, Mrs. Wilson will begin serving the district as Executive Director of Literacy, a new position that aligns with one of the district’s top priorities, to improve literacy outcomes for all students.)

Dr. Maier graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Communication Skills; from SUNY Empire State College with a Master of Arts in Teaching/Spanish Education; and she earned an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She holds teaching licenses in Spanish K-12, English as a Second Language K-12, and Exceptional Children Cross Categorical K-12. Dr. Maier also holds administrative licenses for both Principal and Superintendent.

Dr. Maier said, “I am extremely honored and very excited to be named Principal for New Hope Elementary School with Orange County Schools! I am impressed by the strong New Hope community, the mission, vision, and growth of the school, and by your consistent commitment to holistically serving students and families.”

Dr. Maier will bring invaluable experiences to the table as the leader of New Hope Elementary School. She has previously served as a Senior Program Coordinator in the non-profit sector, and as a Spanish Teacher, AVID Elective Teacher, a Director of School Culture, and an instructor for Spanish language at the university level.  She is currently the Assistant Principal of Brogden Middle School in Durham Public Schools where she served as the lead administrator for the 8th grade, ESL, and Exceptional Children’s departments, as well as curriculum and instruction and Title I programming. And she was a key part of the administrative team that was able to grow Brogden Middle School out of low performing status.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Maier to Orange County Schools, and New Hope Elementary School. We look forward to great things in the upcoming years!
