Kelly Parks is named Principal of Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School
Orange County Schools would like to announce that Mrs. Kelly H. Parks will become the new principal of Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School next month.
The Orange County Board of Education approved Mrs. Parks at its September 13, 2021 work session. Effective October 1, 2021 Mrs. Parks will officially begin serving in the new role. In the meantime, she will begin spending time at ECGES, alongside outgoing principal Minnie Goins, to ensure a smooth transition.
“I'm thrilled to be returning to the Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School family!” said Mrs. Parks. “I have such a deep love for the students, staff, and community of this school. Efland-Cheeks Global is where I learned the most as an educator and I am eager to give back to a school that empowered me to grow my teaching career to positively impact more children and their families. My vision is always focused on what is best for students and that they feel welcome, important, respected, encouraged, and loved each day at school. I look forward to a beautiful journey together!”
Mrs. Parks is a veteran educator and administrator of OCS. Since November 2018, she has served as the Assistant Principal at Pathways Elementary School. Prior to that, she completed her administrative internship at A.L. Stanback Middle School, and from July 2013 to June 2018, she was the Global Magnet Curriculum Coordinator at Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School.
She also has eleven years of teaching under her belt, all in an elementary school setting.
Mrs. Parks will soon hold a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She anticipates graduation in 2023 from the Masters of School Administration program at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She is also a May 2019 North Carolina Principal Fellow-Class 24, and she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from East Carolina University in 2007 with a minor in Child Development and Family Relations Studies. She holds additional licensure certifications in elementary and middle grades math, and she is AIG certified as well.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Parks on her new position! We look forward to great things from Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School under her leadership.
