OCS Names New Principal for Hillsborough Elementary School!
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Jessica Nagy for her selection as the next principal at Hillsborough Elementary School, effective October 1, 2022.
Mrs. Nagy has been with Orange County Schools since 2011 and has a total of 18 years of experience in education under her belt. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in modern languages from Winthrop University, as well as a Master of School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Nagy has served as Assistant Principal of Hillsborough Elementary School since 2017. She was named Orange County Schools’ Assistant Principal of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year, and in the weeks ahead, she will work closely with soon-to-be-retired principal Christine Kreider to ensure a smooth transition for staff and students.
After receiving her new appointment, Mrs. Nagy said, “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the Hillsborough Elementary community. My motivation comes from the remarkable staff and incredible students and families of HES who inspire me to be my best every day. I look forward to working together to cultivate a brighter future!”
Her journey in education includes service as a World Languages and English Speakers of other Languages (or English Language Learners, ELL) teacher at Orange Middle School and as a French teacher and an ELL teacher in two other school districts in the Carolinas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Modern Languages from Winthrop University and a Master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Nagy had this to say about serving as an administrator at Hillsborough Elementary School, “I love this job, I love this school, and we’ve got momentum to continue to grow as leaders and learners. I look forward to continuing this efficacious momentum!”
An avid reader, Mrs. Nagy makes it a point to read and write every day, both in and out of school. When not at school, she loves to cook and listen to podcasts at the same time. She spends a lot of time outdoors, taking hikes, kayaking, and traveling. Her family life is vibrant too: “I’m married to the most amazing man on the planet; I have two smart, thoughtful, and hilarious boys; I also have a very large dog, an outside cat (I’m allergic), and a leopard gecko.”
Mrs. Nagy said her favorite aspect of working in education is making connections with students. “They are truly my source of joy each day. Finding what motivates kids to succeed and then seeing their growth is a phenomenal thing, which is why I’ve come to love elementary so much!”
Mrs. Nagy will glean from her experience of both the history and challenges ahead for HES, building on a strong sense of community within and outside the classroom walls.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Jessica Nagy, the new principal of Hillsborough Elementary School! We look forward to the road ahead as you take the helm at HES.
